If you live in Louisiana and drive a Mercedes Benz, you're likely paying among the highest insurance rates in the country today, according to numbers assembled by Insure.com.

According to a recent report by Insure.com, Louisiana took the cake as the state with the highest insurance costs, thanks to a high rate of bodily injury claims and comprehensive claims. The average yearly policy in Louisiana was $2,699, compared to $2,520 in second place Michigan, the only state in the country that guarantees unlimited lifetime benefits for those injured in a car accident.

Motorists in Michigan are hit with a $175 per vehicle yearly assessment that goes directly to the non-profit that administers lifetime unlimited benefits to accident...

The best way to find lower insurance is to call at least 20 different places and ask for specific quotes (300,000/100,000) with uninsured motorist's coverage, for instance.

Take the three or four hours it will take to make those phone calls, then choose the best one - which still may not be the least expensive. Remember, least expensive might or might not mean cheapest.

Erie Insurance (out of Erie, PA) has been wonderful for my family for over 10 years now. Low auto rates and spectacular house rates, too!

Those living along the coastal areas should pay more for anything they own since they have the luxury of living in the sunshine states or by the ocean. We in the Midwest are tired of paying higher rates to cover those that gets the damage all the time from hurricanes etc

The price of fuel at the pump is too high!" It would be nice if you changed your cut and paste. Vehicles with high MPG are safe? Most of the ones with high mileage are just coffins on wheels.
