Cheers: She should have moved over to the right. Jeers: The officer could have let her go with a warning.

Excellent Law. Get out the way!! I hate to see two or more lanes of traffic "Drag racing to see who can go the SLOWEST" It's better for ALL to let the faster traffic go!! If he/she is doing 90+ they'll pay sooner or later!!

What if you are going over the speed limit and are still the slowest car?
A judge onc told me that he would never cite someone for obstructing traffic in the inside lane if he was at ar above the speed limit. Now 2 miles under the speed limit, I can see the policeman writing the ticket; but don't think a judge will uphold it. It's against the law clearly that the speed limit is the same in all lanes. What's realy aggravating is when we have 3 or 4 lanes in each direction and 3 of the lanes are occupiced by big rigs all side by side blocking the freeway for a couple of miles on a freeway steep hill. All going about 1/2 the speed limit.

We need more tickets issued for this offense. I don't understand why so many drivers seem to feel entitled to cruise along mindlessly in the left lane when traffic is stacking up behind them, or cars are whizzing by to their right.

I drove in Europe for two years. There you only used the left lane while actually passing no matter how fast you were driving and you had to yield the lane to any vehicle approaching from the rear that flashes their headlights. The system works great! But they take driving serious over there and everybody is trained to a higher standard. Not like here in the US where the car has become a rolling entertainment center/phone booth.
If we're ever going to see things change it's going to have to start in driver's education before people get their licenses and we're going to have to be willing to take Granny's license from her when she can no longer see over the steering wheel and parks her Buick by feel. Until then I would be happy to see truck drivers resist the temptation to pass another truck holding up traffic for 5 minutes when they are only capable of going one half of a mile per hour faster.

You're saying all those people going 85 mph pull over to the right when they're not passing... NOT... You're also saying she's breaking the law by not moving out of the way for people who are breaking the law.

When someone is driving near or at the limit the limit, logically they can't be cited for going too slow ... anyone who was inconvenienced would have been speeding. I presume if she challenged that ticket in court, she would be exonerated. You can't argue you have to make way for people who are breaking the law.

The left lane on I-95 between Baltimore and DC is usually traveling between 80 - 85 mph easily (traffic allowing of course). When somebody insist on driving below or at the speed limit it presents more of a danger with people who are trying to pass on the right. There are signs on the road that say 'Slower traffic keep right'. They are there for a reason. The troopers in the median seem to tolerate 15 mph over as I pass by them many times a day.
If you want to be 'safe' and drive the speed limit, GET IN THE RIGHT LANE!! Or better yet, get on a secondary road, ie: US 1, and drive 45 mph at your heart's content. I'm sure that will be in the left lane too.

Cheers! It's so aggravating to see those cars that stay in the left lane, even though the right lane is clear. This is especially irritating on the interstate highway, when those permanent left-laners drive just at the speed limit, as if trying to regulate traffic.

AMEN! There used to be bumper stickers for the left rear side saying "Passing Side" and the one for the right rear said "SUICIDE".
On a three lane Interstate when driving in the center or left lanes @ about 5 mph over the limit, I see some wiseguy doing about 20 mph over the limit and he looks like he will pass in the right side slow lane I will ease over there and make him pass on the left if he wants to go by.
I have no respect for those kind of peeps.

Read the article first! The ticket was for not keeping to the right when not passing it was not for being to miles under the speed limit. Some tickets are unjustified, but that doesn't apply in this case!
