hopefully we will soon find a better fuel source. imagine how great it could be to effectively charge your vehicle from your own solar panel... more greedy people out of my pocket that way

good news for us drivers. More domestic production and being landlocked, most likely this extra 15K barrels a day will stay in the US.

I thought Motiva, Pt Arthur-Groves, TX area was not growing. They want to be the largest refinery in the area. Is that true?

Refined oil is exported to artificially create shortages so prices can be increased.

Another refinery seeks to expand amid shift, they have seen a need for extra oil refining for the Bakken crude oil and natural gas source. Produce fuel from US sources, for use in the US only. No Exporting of fuel allowed unless there is a huge excess of crude oil and fuel! More Refineries are Not the answer, Stop exporting fuel is! Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Makes no difference because they will manipulate all refineries to maximize profits.

This is an excellent idea because expanded refineries mean more production which is always a good thing. Besides, I would imagine that is it much less expensive to expand an existing refinery than to build one from scratch.

Part of the leftwing master plan .. fewer refineries mean higher fuel prices and less of the rabble that can drive...

Good news for the expansion but bad news for the decision to shut down a less profitable refinery. EPA new rules make it unprofitable to modify older refineries as necessary to meet new EPA "regulations". An EPA "running rampant" in the HO administration could feasibly cause the closure of a lot of refineries in America, thus boosting the necessity to import fuel. Lack of reasonable development and production of natural energy resources in America is a big factor leading to a legacy of a failed presidency for the HO.

I don't understand why refineries are shutting down, we're still finding oil and there is still quite a demand for refined products, are the existing refineries getting that much more efficient?
