booner: not necessarily. People often try to squeeze through the intersection in the very last fraction of a second.

Longer yellow lights would yield fewer collisions, but less profit for the government.

would be good to have two or three extra seconds, but also another 3 or so before the other side turns green.

I like Mexico's traffic light system....when the green light is about to change it begins to blink. It's decreased their accidents at traffic lights. Wouldn't be a bad idea to do a trial run in the states....at least that is my opinion.

Come on GasBuddy this is a huge web site and you can afford to HIRE SOMEONE to post articles over the weekend instead of repeating them for three (3) days.

Hmm, with longer yellow lights - perhaps MORE people will try to outrun the red light and GO-FASTER.
Have you considered if you obey the law and still get T-boned or front-ended at an intersection, and DIE you lose AND if you are the scofflaw speeding thru a yellow light and you hit a car and you die -- guess who wins the money lottery? The WH and the social security office....your behavior (death) now costs less than if you had outlived your SS account earnings for life. Saying that, I don’t want you to DIE to attempt to get to WORK faster (never get a speeding ticket on the way to work-how embarrassing !) I want you to stick it “to the man” and live a long and prosperous life drawing more SS$$ out than you paid in…(it is a 50/50 chance you will; and remember motorcycles are invisible to most car drivers when the motorcyclist is making a left turn…the car driver always says “I didn’t see him.” Be safe out there and slow down—don’t DIE because of your behavior…get at least what you paid into SS out; live long and prosper.

Yes make them longer. Some cities actually shortened the yellow time when they installed the red light cameras to increase the take.

Four days to whine about getting caught running red lights? Come on.. it is dangerous - yellow means prepare to stop, not accelerate through the intersection... just stop like you are supposed to and the problem goes away.
