Is someone's car double parked and in your way? A new service unveiled in San Francisco would let you text the driver of the offending vehicle- using their license plate.

According to cnsnews.com, a new service allows individuals in San Francisco to anonymously send text messages to strangers through their license tag numbers. “Helping neighbors avoid the pitfalls of parking in San Francisco,” says CurbTXT, which allows people who sign up for the service to avoid receiving nasty notes on their vehicles.

“A lot of things can go wrong when parking a car in the city,” the company explains. “We think instant, direct, and anonymous communication can alleviate a lot of the parking issues people have with their vehicles and the...

kiatoindos asks: "What if they don't have a phone?"

Then they won't have registered, would they?

READ THE ARTICLE!

Almost every reply is from a person who has obviously not read the article and has no clue what they are talking about!
I don't know whether to blame the education system, or what, but these people vote! If they pay as much attention to political articles as they do this, I fear for the future of the world.

People still making dumb replies.
If you can't be bothered actually reading the article, why make fools of yourselves by revealing you have no idea what you are posting about?

I see the phone companies getting a "little extra money" from all the stupid text messages want-to-be police will be flooding the data base with. Vehicle will be gone by the time anyone gets there. LOL

"Is someone's car double parked and in your way?"

Can you text a meter maid or towing service?

beachd8 says: "sounds like something criminals would want to join to lure people outside"
gashole84 says: "bullying by license plate"
stlhawk says: "Has somebody really thought this through? It will be a disaster."
Radicalrose says: "more annoying texts coming at all hours of the nite and days. what next???"
Vette1967 says: "I smell abuse."

The whole page is full of stupid comments by people that obviously didn't read the story, or can't understand simple English.
It is no wonder there are so many problems in the world today!

I think if you signed up for this service (it's opt-in), you'd be smart enough to get unlimited text service on your cell phone. But it's impossible to make things foolproof because fools are so darned ingenious.

NO WAY...what about the people who pay for each text, or some snot nose teenager texting as a prank in the middle of the night...or the stupid person who thinks it would be funny to just text anyone....stupid idea

I agree there could be consequences to someones actions..but I don't want even 1 text in the middle of the night.

Just pay attention & don't double park.. you leave your lights on...sucks to be you

As long as it stays as an opt in service. I would not like to find out that my personal information could be used in this way without my permission.

I personally would appreciate receiving a text letting me know I had left my lights on........parked illegally etc. Like the article stated, if you receive an appropriate text they can be blocked. What is the beef? How are they invading your privacy....it will be a service and possibly save you time, frustration and money!

Some dummies are still commenting without reading the article, or understanding anything about the service!

Look, if you don't register your plate and phone number with Curbtxt, nobody can send you one of the texts!
It isn't an invasion of privacy if you have invited the texts, AND you don't know who the person is sending it to you, AND they don't know who you are!
Try using the application for stalking, and not only will you have your access cut off after a complaint, but you could end up with the constabulary at your door. And, again, you can't send a text to somebody who hasn't registered.
Nobody gets your phone number! You don't get the phone number of the texter!
AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GOVERNMENT!
