Ford announced a new concept car on Thursday fueled almost entirely by the sun, without depending on a power outlets or charging stations for fuel.

C-MAX Solar Energi Concept, which will be on display at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas next week, aims to make green vehicles more accessible to drivers, eliminating the need for electric grids that are often underdeveloped, unreliable or pricy. Still, the car comes with a charge port and can be fueled by at a charging station like other solar-powered vehicles.

It would get me to work and back, too (of course, that's just the electric-only range). It would also address the lack of outlet availability for those of us who live in apartments - it could simply charge out in the sun while I'm in the office. Build it as a sedan and I might just be intested.

Good point BEGTWO from Maryland.

I could run my usual errands for supplies in 21 miles or less easily.

Yawn. This kind of stuff works in Arizona, but not so much for most of the rest of the country. If we survive another 50 years the technology might be more in line with the rest of the country.

Way to go Ford!! Needs to come to market soon, won't make the Oil Co's happy though but too bad. Then lets see what the "speculators " will do with that.
