South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard and five other governors from ethanol-producing states said a cut to the country’s ethanol mandate would hurt efforts to create jobs, grow family incomes and revitalize their local economies.

In a letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, the governors urged the Obama administration to increase the biodiesel volume level to reflect current production levels, modify the cellulosic target to match production expectations and bring the overall renewable fuels target back in line with what Congress initially required.

The EPA, which oversees the country’s Renewable Fuel Standard, proposed in November cutting the fuel requirement in 2014 to 15.2 billion gallons of ethanol and other biofuels —

evowner, in 30+ years of ranching here in TX my net return, considering all costs on the cattle feeds including corn and soybean meal, cottonseed and distillers' grains diets, were all about the same as a corn gluten feed diet. However, that was when corn was fairly steady around that $2 per bushel mark.

The relative value of corn gluten feed depends heavily upon the relative price of corn. Have you seen the price per bushel of corn over the last few years as the ethanol mandates kicked in?? Apparently not from your posts below. 2012 saw corn skyrocket to average $6.90 per bushel thanks to these ridiculous ethanol mandates you favor, proving your earlier statement utterly ridiculous.

I fed cattle corn gluten from a Cargill ethanol plant in Iowa when corn was less than $2.00 per bushel. We did this because gluten decreased our cost per pound of gain.

"Lack of ethanol by-product for cattle feed will raise the cost of feeding cattle, thus higher beef prices."

"...grow family incomes..."

Who's family? Certainly NOT the American public. We pay MORE for everyday grocery items due to massive amounts of corn (and fields) diverted to ethanol production. It causes us to burn MORE fuel to get anywhere, it causes damage to ICE's. The only people it helps are the farmers getting the SUBSIDIES (OUR tax dollars) to grow corn for this crap.

Obama doesn't care about jobs, but he does care about his left wing agenda. He campaigned in 2008 on wanting to double the current mandates, so don't expect him to cut the current ethanol mandate.

Hmm, they can afford to purchase new vehicles once ethanol has done it's job. Please... Ethanol is NOT for vehicles. Feed the starving people instead.

Yep, it'll cut all those new jobs repairing engines due to corn damage from using Ethanol-laden gasoline. Put corn on the table and let me use algae for my gas tank will ya?

Narrow minded, self serving idiots....

Trying to continue nursing at the govvamint teat when it shouldn't have been allowed in the first place. Nothing but a pyramid scheme based on government handouts. Please let it crash so we can get back to NORMAL economic growth.

Wondering when this started. Just curious about last Sunday's drawing. Sounds good to me but would have liked to know before it started. Like better chances of winning but do also realize how many Gas Buddy members there are. Thanks Gas Buddy.
