COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new report says Ohio energy companies extracted more than twice as much oil and gas from the Utica shale during three months last year than all of 2012.
The figures were released thanks to a new law that requires companies to file production updates for the geological formation every quarter instead of annually.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Wednesday (http://bit.ly/1iulhg1 ) that in the three-month-period ending in September, 245 wells produced a total of 1.3 million barrels of oil and 33.6 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

For all of 2012, 85 wells produced 635,876 barrels of oil and 12.8 billion cubic feet of gas.

Industry experts attribute the increase to a growth in active wells.

To bad supply and demand theories do not work when it comes to gas and oil production.

Lots of oil and natural gas and gas prices are high too.....
More crude oil and Big Oil exports fuel to keep their profits high.

I'm sure you are right about speculation, that being said: every time there is the slightest hint some of the smallest producers are off line or their is a threat thereof oil and fuel prices skyrocket immediately hence my Bizzaro World comment.

1fuelish1 is right. Speculators will not allow our prices to fall accordingly. They will keep prices up for market profit.

Oil and gas prices are only slightly affected by increased volumes. Rampant speculation is the real underlying reason behind high prices.

Okay, this is nice but until production is ramped up to where gas prices dropped LONG term, this means that they are price gouging...
