The operator of a $2.3 billion pipeline between Cushing, Okla., and the Gulf Coast expects to begin shipping oil Jan. 22.

TransCanada began injecting crude oil into the 485-mile, 36-inch pipeline in early December. Spokesman Davis Sheremata said the process involves injecting about 3 million barrels of oil into the system at Cushing and moving it to the Houston area.

“Once line-fill is complete, TransCanada’s team will move into the final phase of commissioning for our meters, pump stations and other related facilities,” Sheremata said in an email to The Associated Press.

Regulatory filings with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission have set Jan. 3 as the date for rates, rules and regulations to become effective to commence transportation services to the Gulf Coast,

And lastly from our paid green shill:

To whit: <>"The industry will find a way to "blame" President Obama for higher prices while they gouge US at the pump."<>

That's really rich! Obammy has already done that his own self! No one has to find a way! (grin)

More paid green shill lies and bait and switch spin:

To whit: <>"Best of all, when they get their shipments headed overseas and they raise domestic prices for US?"<>Fact: Not a drop of crude oil will be exported.

The Keystone XL Pipeline is not a crude oil export pipeline — period. It is a supply line to U.S. Gulf Coast refineries — which have signed up to 20-year binding commercial contracts to receive oil through Keystone XL. This much-needed oil will allow refineries to create products that we all rely on every day — gasoline for our vehicles, aviation fuels, and diesel fuels to help transport goods throughout the continent. It makes absolutely no sense for companies to purchase cheaper Canadian crude, and then pay (again) to ship that product overseas, while continuing to import higher-priced oil from the Middle East and Venezuela. The U.S. is an overwhelming net importer of crude oil. The International Energy Agency (IEA) and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) have both forecast the U.S. will still need to import oil to meet its domestic demand for decades, despite growing oil production in the U.S. U.S. and Canadian production tranposrted by will displace more expensive crude oils from less stable countries.

Uh oh! Here we go again with the paid green shill beloved bait and switch tactics!

To whit: <>"What happened to the hundreds of thousands of jobs that were promised?"<>

Those jobs are still awaiting our ideologue and Emperor Obama's decision.

This pipeline is "partial" Trans Canada. Only delivers Oil ..not the Oil Sands from Canada. It may never be completed as such, but will help keep Cushing from backing up.

Lets have a positive outlook on the new OK to Houston pipeline. Once it is fully operational, then voice your negative comments and opinions.

What happened to the hundreds of thousands of jobs that were promised?

Maybe they were including jobs in healthcare and spill clean up industries?

Best of all, when they get their shipments headed overseas and they raise domestic prices for US?

The industry will find a way to "blame" President Obama for higher prices while they gouge US at the pump.

I guess the few landholders that were holding out to get more money from TransCanada lost their court cases.

It is about time for the midcontinent producers to get paid a fair price for their oil, and for the inventory at Cushing to get drawn down.

America grab your wallets... they soon will be empty. As US oil heads off to sea, China bound.... and your gas/fuel will come from imports as big oil play's its game to justify the high price. Import contracted oil, while we are told they have to pay top dollar for imported oil for our fuel. But really they are selling US Oil for big dollars and profits on the open oil market...... Let the shell games begin.

It is not the oil from Canada that will be flowing through the pipeline.

On its way to the Gulf and then off to the highest bidder. Will do nothing to lower energy prices in the US. Making it much easier for Big Oil to move it out of the US ASAP and line their coffers.
