Fiat SpA has reached an agreement with the United Auto Workers to purchase the rest of Chrysler Group LLC.

The $3.65 billion deal, which was announced Wednesday afternoon, marks the culmination of years of on-and-off negotiations between the Italian automaker and the union, which controls the retiree health care trust that owns a minority stake in the Auburn Hills automaker.

Would that it were. The looting of old Chrysler & GM bondholders shows govt is never to be trusted. Rented, or leased via campaign contributions, yes, but never trusted.

1. We GAVE Fiat Chrysler.

2. They are using Chrysler money (OUR money that we gave them) to keep Fiat afloat.

3. Now they are going to put 100% of the burden of keeping Fiat alive in the hands of Chrysler. All the profits from Chrysler (assuming there will be any) will flow to Fiat - Italy - and the EU in order to cover Fiat debt and keep Fiat out of bankruptcy......

What in the hades does that do for US???

Hope the union got enough cash to take care of their own out of this deal. They knew what was going to happen with the Chrysler money from the git go - and wanted no part of the mess.

Watch - in 5 years Chrysler will be broke again because of Fiat.......

A good move for both Chrysler and the union. So far, Fiat has done a great job at improving Chrysler's products and more good things can be expected in the future.
