If you tolerated this year's gasoline prices, then 2014 shouldn't cause you to blow a gasket.

Overall, prices at the pump were better in 2013 than some previous years. In the Tulsa area, there was a spike in May caused by some refinery outages, but the year started and approached its end with fuel costs below $3 a gallon.

Analysts with travel club AAA-Oklahoma and GasBuddy.com both told me they are forecasting fuel prices will average 10 cents less per gallon in 2014.

"Sometimes I think forecasting gasoline prices is just setting yourself up for disappointment," AAA spokesman Chuck Mai said in a phone interview. "But that said, I do believe we will enjoy lower prices next year, all things being equal."

Mai's "all things" include stability in the Middle East, no major pipeline breaks,

Lets do an obama thing and hope for change: steady lower gasoline prices with a minimum of spikes to unrealistic levels. But then again... many of the hopes for change these last few years have been lies... so at this point... we can only hope for divine intervention for the good.

Oh, so the 20 cent jump in the 2 days before 2014 was just to get the last increase? We will all be so much happier and better off because we still don't get a pay raise this year, but the economy is improving at an astonishing rate.

Interesting . . . in my area I have seen gasoline increase by more than 20 cents a gallon just recently . . . optimism can be good I guess.

Not if Conservative Tea Baggage Republicant speculators can 'free market' export refined fuel to boost their profits and our retail fuel prices.
