The derailment of a train carrying oil in North Dakota on Monday, and the subsequent evacuations caused by its explosion, could draw more regulatory scrutiny to rail shipments of crude. But the soaring use of trains to move oil is a long-term trend that is not likely to change soon, analysts say.

I agree for the short term (5-10 years) unless the Keystone XL ia built to connect both Canadian oil and the Balken Shale oil to refineries about the country.

Its in everyone's best interest, including the Oil Companies, to ship it safely. Nobody wins when there are oil transport accidents.

No matter how the oil is shipped, prices will get as low as they should or could. Part of that reason is increased taxes at the state level.
