Know that old yarn about the cobbler's children never having shoes? A financial consultant from Virginia has made a pretty serious financial mistake that will take him 54 years to pay off.

Jason Bourcier, 33, accumulated $202,000 in tolls, fines and fees after skipping tollbooths on the Dulles toll road, according to USA Today. The newspaper reported that while his lawyer was able to get the fines and fees reduced by more than half, he still owes the state $96,498, which he plans to pay off in $150 monthly installments over the next 54 years. He should have the fines all paid off by the time he's 87 years old.

The authorities deserve some of the blame for letting him get away with it for so long.

If he misses payments, I'm guessing the whole thing comes due.

Fines and legal fees cost him far more than the tolls. Live and learn I suppose.

He's thumbing his nose at the rest of us who have paid those tolls when we've used the Dulles Toll Road.

You have got to be kidding me. Mr. Bourcier is probably laughing under his breath. He gets his liability cut in half and is allowed an easy payment plan. Based on the time value of money, he's getting a great deal.

That is an idiotic thing to have that much fines pile up.
It should be easy to track someone down, I am sure he has to renew is car license plate every year. So when someone has fines, he cannot renew his license plate. That simple.

He must have been using roadway logic (red lights , speeding, ect.) in that if I don't get caught it wasn't illegal.

Really? How on earth does someone get away with it for so long to get it that high? With all the cameras, etc they have, I'm sure they could have got him a lot sooner!

This is just like the people who owe millions in back taxes and end up settling their debt for pennies on the dollar...
