he Argentinian government has dramatically increased the pressure on British companies drilling for oil off the disputed Falkland Islands by passing laws that could impose 15-year jail sentences on their executives.

The Argentinian congress has also agreed to levy £100m fines on companies involved in "illegal exploration and exploitation" off the Falklands, or Malvinas as they are known in Argentina.

Premier Oil, Rockhopper Exploration and Falklands Oil and Gas are among the British-based firms who have been actively looking for oil and gas in the South Atlantic area at the centre of the dispute between London and Buenos Aires.

The embassy official admitted there was little that could be done to those who stayed away from Argentina.

Maybe Britain should pass a law providing for 15-months at hard labor for any foreign legislator voting to criminalize oil exploration or development on British territory.

Argentina didn't seem to get the message from the 1982 Falklands war and if they are not careful, the Brits will clean their clocks again in the next one.

The inhabitants have been asked countless times to decide on which side they want to be.
The last time was in March 2013, and the referendum decided that 99.8% want to be British. So case closed.
All people living there are British citizens primarily, hence it is a British territory. So they can drill or do whatever they want.

If the Argentinians want to take a beating again, they are idiots...
