A Friday night explosion and fire at Sinclair Wyoming Refinery did not cause injuries or damage parts of the adjacent town, authorities said.

The explosion occurred shortly after 10 p.m. It was accompanied by a large fire that was limited to the refinery itself, said Sinclair Police Chief Jeff Sanders.

Sinclair’s own fire brigade extinguished the blaze. Its members have specialized training for dealing with refinery fires, Sanders said.

No evacuations were necessary.

The explosion happened in a hydrogen unit at the refinery, which sits about seven miles east of Rawlins.

The explosion drew a response from fire departments in Sinclair and Rawlins, along with medics, police and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office. The last units did not leave the refinery until shortly after 3 a.m., accor

And they can have their eight billion dollar (replacement cost) investment sitting idle and not producing fuel into the high-priced market? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!

I'm guessing this will be all the excuse needed to spike gas prices again. Hope no one was hurt.
