WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Motor group AAA said Monday the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the United States was $3.39, extending a downward trend.

The average price was down from $3.47 one week ago.

AAA said drivers in every state and the District of Columbia are paying less for gasoline than they were last year.

A series of refinery issues in the Midwest market pushed gasoline prices above the $4 per gallon mark in some areas this year. Chicago has some of the highest prices in the region, with an average price Monday of $3.85 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

" Obamamama has managed his streak over $3 for years."

And Bush stood by and did nothing while it went from $1.40 to $4.20. I guess that was part of his "energy policy".

When prices go back up, Obalamer will say it's because of the Republicans & the government shutdown. How stupid does he think we really are?

We are just starting to go into the high $3.50s for gas. I would LOVE to be closer to the $3.47 average price.

Local prices have fallen, but not by much from their highs a few weeks ago. They are still over the average nationally, and this area usually is lower.

It's unfortunate that the price of diesel remains sky high, not only to my personal detriment (my car's a TDI) but the economy, which basically runs on diesel and not gas.

Your gas can be $2.50 a gallon but the economy is still stuck if diesel is $3.79, lol.

Around here, regular gas is $2.96 and falling.

Let the gas prices fall like rocks and let the good times roll.

Rock and roll, baby!

Gas prices here in Nova Scotia are adjusted weekly by our provincial government. We will be electing a new government here in Nova Scotia next week so since the election was announced they have been lowering gas prices by a couple of cents each week to gain support from Nova Scotians. Unfortunately in my opinion it is the wrong way to gain votes and too little to late. I will be glad to see the NDP party voted out next week.

"It still costs more here now then it did the week before Labor day."

RNCII, where in Michigan are you? The price charts clearly show Michigan gas prices to be the lowest since January with maybe an exception for the week before the 4th of July.

$3.08 in Indy before the discount cards. Under $3.00 with some of the discount cards. Life is getting better. About another 60 cent decrease would put the price of gas back in the range it should be.
