Environment Canada‘s most optimistic projections for climate change predict even faster warming of the atmosphere than the consensus view reached this week by an international panel assessing the latest scientific evidence

Even in the best-case scenarios for limiting growth of heat-trapping GHG, the federal department’s computer models show average global warming of about 2C above pre-industrial levels by 2050

IPCC said it’s likely that temperatures will exceed this 2C threshold by 2100, though not necessarily by 2050

Governments from around the world have agreed that the 2C threshold is a dangerous tipping point for the atmosphere

If temperatures rose by that much, climate change would increase the likelihood of extreme weather events, such as longer and more frequent heat waves as we

In reality, computer models are only as good as the input and the design of the model. Garbage in, Garbage out.

What load of hooey!

The worst thing that can happen is we'll be bankrupt over something we did not create and cannot control.

When will this politically-driven "sky is falling" alarmism cease?! Several studies have recently found that temperatures have not gone up at all since the late 90's!

Its simple enough...either you believe (as almost every credible and reputable and trained scientist in the world does--anyone who isn't being paid by oil/gas/coal interests--who has studied this) that something is happening--or you do not.

If you believe there is something happening, and strive to mitigate it and plan (ie, move to less vulnerable spots) to avoid it, then the worst thing that can happen to you if it doesn't come to pass, is that you end up looking foolish.

If you don't believe, and make no plans, and do nothing to mitigate it, and it is true, then you, your children, and grandchildren will end up dead before their time.

So, keep on counting up those degree-days, folks, decade by decade. Oh, and start following the atmospheric methane levels over the next few years, because that is the crucial one for sudden catastrophic out-of-control feedback loop change, not the carbon dioxide one as such.

The IPCC new report is hardly more of a rehash of the 2010 report based on the same prior studies; not much new data has been added.
Computer "modeling" has been tweeked a tad but it's really the same data. Yes global warming started some 10,000 ago and will continue to do so till we reach global cooling again.
What's still not included is what can/needs to be done to mitigate the climate change effects.
As for the accuracy of Environment Canada computer modeling, they can't even be accurate in 3 days from now. Can we rely on their computations and/or "simulations" for 40 years from now? I don't think so.
They've all but quit predicting hurricanes beyond a few weeks as they systematically get it wrong (and have lost most of their funding).

Disparaging science will not change the fact we are about to effect a serious and irreversible change to the environment. Climate change is real, and we are causing it. I guess no one will believe it until NYC floods from rising sea levels. The North Polar ice cap melted for a short period this summer. The ice used to be meters thick, now it is just a thin layer, and will be gone altogether in my life time.

Have the morons at Environment Canada checked out all the ice cover in the northwest passage? Or the fact that they have had one of the coldest winters in recent years? or the fact that several hundred distinguished scientists, many who were former believers, have debunked the whole Global Warming scam? the problem with these government environmental agencies is that the are populated with all environmental zealots who practically view global warming theory as a religion. You will never convince them otherwise, even with the facts. Facts are to be ignored when you have the "theory" even if it is misguided and based on cooked up data.
