An internal party disagreement over fracking is bubbling up and pitting the Pennsylvania Democratic state committee against many of its own elected officials..

Battle lines were drawn in June when the state committee passed a resolution calling for a moratorium on fracking until health and environmental concerns in the state are more clearly addressed...

..“We will continue to hear input from all sides,” Burn said in the statement. “One thing is for certain, these actions are a direct result of Gov. Tom Corbett looking out for his donors instead of the people of Pennsylvania.

..“But all those [Democrat] positions are more reasonable than 'Hey, come take our gas and by the way, we don't care if you don't clean things up,' which has pretty much been the Republican take on this,” he added.

Well said abk from Utah.

Your comment bears repeating:

"The sad thing is that the battle lines are not determined by whether fracking is good or bad, but by what group is donating money to the individual's campaign... "<<

Yep, because the science has already shown no problems with fracking and these liberal Demoncrats are now looking for more payola!

Those in the southeast that oppose fracking don't see any economic benefit to themselves while those in the gas producing regions see a large economic benefits for those regions. Mr. Burn rails against the Republican governor for supporting fracking and, by association, is doing the same against the Democrats in the gas producing regions that support fracking, too. Mr. Burn may sink any hope the Democrats have in taking the governorship in the next election.

So little is known about the "actual" effects of Fracking and this has splintered many groups, even the lib dems.

Politicians always react after the damage. Any way, the money oil companies will convince them that they have done nothing.

Well whoever thought that the Democrats would blindly follow Obama down a path (his view) of the direction our country is headed in, had better think again. Obama doesn't have a national energy policy which is obvious, and maybe one of the factors why four years later our economy is still creeping along at a slow pace.

i.e. until heaven boils over.

"Well, hopefully, in PA and elsewhere, the practical and reasonable Democrats will prevail when it comes to fracking..."

The party that nominated The Won(II) has practical, reasonable members?Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Hope the Dems in PA join those in NY in shutting down drilling operations and sending the oil producers packing. They can always go back to mining and burning coal and try to reinvigorate the rust belt.

When the gas companies have to buy out people whose homes have been made unlivable, and only do so on the condition that the settlements are kept under wraps, you have a good chance something is rotten...
