In SF, more than 1,300mi from the proposed route of the KXL, an agency charged with regulating air pollution from industrial plants and home heaters says the project is a threat

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has joined scores of municipalities and interest groups from CA to ME that have adopted resolutions on KXL or crude from AB

In MT, Commissioner Dunbar of Phillips County, the U.S. entry point for KXL, said he could only wonder why distant towns oppose the project

The agency said the project will worsen global warming for everyone

To meet air quality goals and GHG standards, we have to stop looking at 20th century technologies

Oil “carried by the kXL would counteract GHG reduction achievements made by local climate protection efforts in the Bay Area and throughout CA

:::::There are radical elements within Mexico which don't recognize that Treaty::::

Then they need to start another war with the US so they can get their butts walloped and have to give up some more of their land. this time give up all the states along the US border. That would be a good start for cessation/ treaty/war reparations to the US.

And as for far off communities making a statement, gee.... if that doesn't work for towns and cities in Maine and California....... then it shouldn't work in all the anti-everything communities/states that can try to tie Obama to anything they don't like.....

Just a statement doesn't have any weight. If a million statements from communities are made.... at least they should be listened to.....

Perhaps the refineries in the eastern provinces of Canada could stop importing oil.... if it was shipped from the west....

I wonder why so many Americans (and posters here) hate the idea of Canadians refining their own oil?????

Apparently, when given the choice people prefer to have clean water and air rather than give corporations to make huge profits that will benefit no one.

"My dad was right. He said we should renegotiate the Treaty of Guadalupe - Hidalgo, and give California back to Mexico.
Maybe we should all protest the oil, gas, and refined products coming into California by pipeline, to reduce GHG in the other 47 states."

===========================================================

I can fully understand your dad's sentiments, however, a better idea would be to deport all illegals (30 Million) and build a fence along our borders. Not unlike the "greenies" any settlement would only become the point from which they would launch a new attack. You just cannot satisfy them

There are radical elements within Mexico which don't recognize that Treaty and believe that California, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and parts of Colorado and Wyoming are still sovereign Mexican territory.

The people here in California have elected the dumbest hammers in the box to office. The idea of living in an environment where there are only daises, pot, incense and singing Kumbya with Obama are the priorities in life. In addition, the dolts on Sacramento and Frisco believe that what they want, the world wants and have to do what the politburo dictates.

Just part of the Obama smoke screen as he has no intention of approving the Pipeline without pressure. The bottom line is that Obama has done nothing to control fuel speculation/prices, reduce our dependence on foreign fuels, or improve our economy. The sole agenda of Obama is to cater to his tree hugging, stimulus sucking, union dominated, ultra liberal major contributors. As a result, we continue to be screwed at the pump, with our utilities, & with our taxes. Nothing will change as long as Obama is in office & controls the Senate. 2014 Elections are coming - stop this madness!!

Why anyone would feel compelled to pay attention to what people or groups in California or Maine had to say about something going on in the Midwest is beyond me.

Need to enforce the standards and not let some companies slide. Indiana allows BP to slide with greater release of pollutants into the lake which is wrong.

So only location matters?

Then why don't a lot of the posters take that stance when they complain about California's environmental standards..... after all they had to clean up many decades of trashing areas in the state.... and fouling the air to the point of killing people...

Quit shipping US and Canadian crudes to California and see what they say. Would $6+ for gas wake them up, or would they decide that the rest of the country should pay that much, or more, just because they are loonies?

These left-wing extremists have no idea how much fossil fuels grow our economy, and always have. We are the great nation we are today, in part, because of relatively cheap energy from oil and gas.

they don't want pipelines? That is, they don't want gasoline and oil products shipped to them. Then, pay the higher prices or do without.
