Officials in BC's Central Kootenay region have issued an evacuation order affecting about 800 people after a tanker truck carrying 35,000 L of jet fuel crashed into a creek, for an area stretching several km along both sides of the Lemon Creek in the Slocan Valley

All areas 10 km downstream of the accident site to the community of Winlaw are included in the order

There are serious potential health concerns, especially with fumes in confined spaces and there's "always the potential of the explosiveness of the fumes

The truck had been on its way to supply helicopters battling wildfires in the Perry Ridge area when the accident occurred

There are no safe methods for transporting fuels. Trains still may be safer, though.

I think that the reporter of this story needs to have his journalists' license revoked. There surely must be more information about this incident. The article seems to have been written by a third grader: See Spot. See Spot run. Run Spot, run.

and with good reason no doubt!!!

now another clean up is in store.

$2 billion Canadian insurance for pipelines, trains and trucks carrying toxins should be required by the gov't.

there should NEVER be any doubt that these spills and ALL environmental damge will be 100% remediated and cleaned up.

I don't know if its my imagination, but tanker trucks always seems to be going faster than regular trucks.
