Your automobile could be wide open to attacks from cyber-terrorists and hackers – and the threat is only growing. Today’s vehicles are loaded with electronics, making them an increasingly enticing option for a variety of evil-doers. Work is being done to prevent vehicles from becoming moving targets. But can the good guys stay one step ahead of the bad?

There is a whole lot more to today’s cars and trucks than simply twisting a key and pressing the gas pedal to get going. Today’s modern vehicle is as much a rolling laptop as it is a conveyance for getting from Point A to Point B.
Think about it: you punch in directions via an onboard navigation system, sync your smartphone, and rely on a myriad of driving controls that are operated by electronic connections. A recent report published

It's on Youtube right now. They can turn your brakes off, activate self parking while your on the road (which makes the steering wheel go crazy), change gauge and speedometer readings. They can hack and control any function that has an on-board computer. The car in the video has over 30 computers.

Throttle by wire, steer by wire .. you get the picture.

Seen how this could happen in the movies, now it is reality. Life imitating art, I guess!

So, you might want to hold on to that old hooptie with the carburetor and points! You should be able to name your price real soon!

Some of you youngsters have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?! ;)

What harm is likely? I know viruses mess up computers, the Yankee Doodle cost businesses lots of money, but it was supposed to be harmless. If they disable alarms that could be bad. This brings up a question about self-steering cars.

"I am starting to sound like a broken record (OK, OK, so a lot of you do not know what a record is) but there is way too much technology and not enough horse sense in cars today"

Horse sense is only available as an option on the top of the line model.

Tabloid newspapers like the Daily News love to scare their readers. This kind of hacking is not ready for primetime.

Override kill switch via eye print - voice print - finger print - code word or words you could change. Has to be a way to stop bad boys !

Well I guess now you'll have to buy a bar lock and put in an alarm to make it a little more difficult and maybe a kill switch
