It was May 2009 when New Yorkers Heidi Hunter and John Bologna opened their new delicatessen in downtown Ignacio. They were optimistic that a recent lull in natural-gas and oil industry activity was just a bump in the road. But four years later, the couple realized they opened the doors of Hero’s New York Delicatessen Justas the dual tides of the economic recession and declining natural-gas prices were coming to a head.

Hunter estimated that 80 percent of Hero’s business comes from workers in the gas field, so as drilling in the area started to decline, s did the number of customers.

Hero’s closed its doors July 18 and will be opening a new restaurant in Aztec, where Hunter and Bologna hope a busier natural-gas and oil industry will again keep them busy churning out pizzas, chick w

Facts:
1) Bush appointees and GOP attempts to defund the commission blocked any actions by Obama to reduce speculation...
2) Oil production has increased under Obama.

3) the next sentence showcased willful ignorance and actual delusions...(BTW, doesn't that make the GOP pols in the check photo ops for the stimulus projects "stimulus-suckers" even though their public statements claim no jobs were created)...

4) Nothing will change as long as the GOP can filibuster the senate and the House is led by the loonies from the GOP crazy town....would be a true statement.

The bottom line is that Obama has done nothing to control oil speculation or prices, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, or improve our economy. His sole agenda is to cater to his tree hugging, stimulus sucking, union dominated, ultra liberal major contributors. As a result, we continue to be screwed at the pump, with our utilities, & with our taxes. Nothing will change as long as Obama is in office & controls the Senate. 2014 Elections are coming - stop this madness!!

This is a good example of the snowball effect. That is why building the Keystone Pipeline would add many jobs to our economy!

When retailers insist on higher priced because of fuel cost when those costs come down that part of the price is never considered. Take a pair of Levis I used to be able to buy for 30 dollars after the first big price hike 45 dollars when prices fell retailers have the price they want. End of story

I really don't care how business wins or save on oil price drops - they usually just pocket the savings so the consumer never sees any of it.

Show me a 50-cent per gallon price drop at the pump and I'll start smiling. :)

Dubya's recession hurt many others too. The hole he created in the American economy is just starting to heal.

our business has been declining since 9/11/01. However it took the worst downturn in Nov. 2008 as soon as the announcement Obama was elected massive numbers of business either closed or cut way back, causing a major increase in unemployment. Meanwhile while prices escalated on all things except housing because sells crashed. All combined fewer people had money to spend & the recession still persist x 5+ yrs.
