At the beginning of July, U.S. oil topped $100 a barrel for the first time this year, and it hasn’t gone back below that threshold since.

And at the pump, drivers are paying more for gasoline, at an average of $3.66/gallon (as of Wednesday) versus $3.48 a year ago and $3.57 a month ago.

So why, you may ask, have prices been rising when crude oil production in this country grew by more than one million barrels a day last year, the largest increase in the world and in U.S. history? And when all we seem to hear about is a U.S. energy revolution?

The short answer, is that we did see that impact on oil prices – they had fallen and come unhinged from the world market.

They cannot come soon enough for me, however, nobody is "holding their breath" in anticipation of lower prices.

DanMtz: That's this week's prediction.

That's true. But this one is coming from one of the banking corporations that's responsible for manipulating prices. So Morse speaks with greater authority.

I'm still waiting for the last drop that turned into a 40-50 cent increase.

As quickly as oil has jumped in the past three weeks, it will take three months or longer to get the price back down. They will hold on to these higher prices for as long as possible!!!!

File directory error 404
article tells me.
thanks df99 for link.
However, my comment is:
during holiday tourism season, gas prices are high to get more $$$$ from our tourists... and us locals who are long suffering.
Taxes paid to govt are misused. Where does all the money go?

Easy for them to say, it's not there asses on the line.

For some reason, I can't seem to get to the original article.

However, I believe that the author meant to say 'disconnected' rather than 'unhinged'. 'Unhinged' means daft, cuckoo, nuts. It doesn't apply here.

It certainly would be nice to see some relief. I really have doubts no matter what the US may produce. I fear it would simply be shipped overseas to make more profits for big oil.
