The expanded use of ethanol as a blendstock in gasoline faces "some major demand and distribution system challenges that make it difficult to increase its use in motor fuel," according to testimony before a House Committee Wednesday by a representative from the Energy Information Administration.

First introduced in 2005 and amended in 2007, the RFS, which is part of the Clean Air Act administered by the Environmental Protection Agency, requires higher levels of renewables be blended into petroleum-based fuels each year through 2022 when it reaches 36 billion gallons. Corn-based ethanol was viewed as a stepping stone to more advanced renewables when the mandate was created. Ethanol expansion? If they really had everyone's best interests in mind, it would be ethanol contraction.

Perhaps you should read your owners manual discovery. A 2012 non-flex Ford vehicle would have said 10% maximum ethanol for example. Or perhaps you enjoy taking chances on voiding warranties?
