When the latest JD Power quality awards came out, General Motors trumpeted the results to anybody who would listen. All four of GM’s divisions — Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC — came in above the industry average, which was vindication for an automaker that declared bankruptcy in 2009, required a huge government bailout to survive and spent most of the past decade explaining away subpar automobiles.

Across town, Chrysler had nothing to say when the Power awards came out, for good reason. Of Chrysler Group’s five divisions, four — Fiat, Ram, Dodge and Jeep — came in below average, with Fiat second from last and Ram fifth from last. The Chrysler brand came in slightly above average, yet that’s for a division that has dwindled to three basic models and hasn’t launched a genuinely new pro

engineering and innovation had been chyslers trademarks til they were bought up by vulture capitalists just before the crash of 08. while the synergy with fiat has worked well enough, quality has never been job one at chysler nor fiat. they still have a long row to hoe.

I have to say visually I like the dart. I don't like any of there other cars. They need to get away from the large engines, they like to tote. As they get horrid mileage. The Dart does well, But only in the higher end model. If I remember correctly. I hope they can come up with something better going forward and improve there quality, Because I only buy reliable cars I don't go by "brand" or where they are made. If a car is safe and reliable and gets good mileage fine. I see no room for brand loyely when it comes to safety and reliability, a car has our life in their Mechanical hands no time to play stupid games.
I like this brand because of where its made, or not made. Blah.

Chrysler quality suffered after Daimler sold it. I liked the Dodge Caravan I drove until 2009. But Chrysler probably won't get me out of the Honda Odyssey I currently drive.

From my experience with fleet pickup trucks, Chrysler has come up a bit in quality but still not the quality of either Ford or GM, except for their diesel engine. With transmissions, GM beats the other two hands down and if you are going to tow, GM is the way to go with their Durmax/Allison combination.

I don't like any of Chrysler Group's products, and I have an "inside" view of them. I have to say, though, that they have dramatically improved since Fiat took over and will continue to do so. The new models that are coming down the pipeline will be something to talk about. Stay tuned.

When your budget is greater to explain away substandard products than the budget to improve quality, then you do not deserve the consumers' money. People work too hard for their money and the deserve value for it.

All the hype about Fiat. My impression from the past was Fiat being a marginal quality auto. Somehow the Fiat corporation has had the money to buy many companies making it a multinational corporation of some size. Why they have a problematic car division seems odd?

Remember Lead, Follow or Get out of the way. Chrysler was always a leader till Fiat got in there.
