A survey released yesterday says most hybrid owners won't be repeat purchasers, because the gas savings aren't enough to offset the premium price.
The deadline to file your taxes is a week from today, and a new survey by eBay says 21 percent of Americans who expect a refund will spend at least part of it on a new or used car. But will they buy a hybrid?
Toyota announced last week that U.S. sales of the Prius hit an all-time high – 28,711 sold in March. While that’s 54 percent more than the same month a year ago, it’s still puny compared the Toyota Camry, which had sales of 42,567 last month.
Now a new survey suggests most hybrid owners will go back to gas-only. “While the selection of hybrid models in the U.S. has more than doubled since 2007, only 35 percent of hybrid vehicle owners choos

We've had our Camry hybrid going on 5 & 1/2 years & with 113,000 miles, we are very happy & pleased with its performance. We would definitely consider another if & when replacement is needed.

Most people don't buy cars on a purely economic basis anyway - as well they shouldn't, because something will always happen to disappoint in that regard. Buy the car you need and like to get you where you need to go, and take care of it.

It seems like they could have figured that out before making the purchase.

The Obama Administration won't like this article as it caters to its tree hugging, stimulus sucking, union dominated major contributors. I would never own a hybrid in the first place & certainly not from the Big Three.

The deadline to file your taxes is a week from today??? How old is this article? And, by the way, I own a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Sorry if others ended up spending more than they wanted to, but that isn't the problem. You have to watch for the buys and decide exactly what you want on your car.

I looked at buying a hybrid, but it would take over seven years to make up the extra cost. It's interesting to note people would not purchase a hybrid again.

Hybrids are for the folks with more money than brains, but there will be others who will drive them until the novelty wears off.
