Call this the long overdue Spring sales surge for the pick-up truck.

It may not be sexy, but the importance for automakers and the U.S. economy cannot be overstated.

"Housing is beginning to improve, and that's fueling our pick-up sales," said Kurt McNeil, Vice President of U.S. Sales for General Motors.

In April, the big 3 all saw big sales for their pick-ups.

Ram Trucks up 49%
Ford F-Series up 24%
GM Pick-ups up 23%Small Business Owners, Contractors Buying Again

Pick-up trucks have been gradually increasing sales as the economy has improved over the last three years. At the heart of the latest surge in truck sales is higher demand from small business owners and contractors who are replacing older trucks in their fleets.

A crew cap pickup fills a number of family and business trasportation needs such as hauling the family with baggage around, pulling trailers, transporting items in the cargo bed, etcetera. We can guarantee you that we will never be without one in our family "fleet".

Looks like the economy is improving nicely. Good thing Mhit lost the election or we would be headed right back to the wasteland of the Bush years.

Businesses and people who own pickup trucks do need to replace them sometimes.

There seems to be a demand for both new and used trucks.

There is always a demand for trucks and the pick-up is one. Pick-ups are not mostly limited for just enjoyment, but also business. They are also long lasting when cared for properly.

The F 150 someone I knew had was very impressive for power and cargo capacity.

Love my 2005 GM Duramax diesel. My second one and would buy another at a drop of a hat if I needed it. I get around 25 mpg on the open highway with a camper on it.

When I can afford it, I'll buy a truck. It seems to be better than a car to haul different things.
