Cashing in on crude oil discounts and its new refinery in Texas, Marathon Petroleum Corp. increased profit 22 percent in the first quarter to $725 million, or $2.17 per share.

Marathon's first-quarter earnings a year earlier were $596 million, or $1.70 per share.

Revenue climbed 15 percent to $23.35 billion in the January-March quarter.

That's REVENUE. PROFIT was $725 million. On every dollar of sales, only 3.1 cents were profit. Wal-Mart does better than that.

Crude prices drop and oil company profits rise. They should be passing on the cost reductions to the consumer and not be so GREEDY !!!!

Profits up to $23.35 BILLION in ONE QUARTER... I'm sure they're just figuring out ways to pass that along to consumers. They'll come up with something I'm sure. So is it time for my medications now nurse?

Yep Big Oil rakes in the profits, straight from our pockets. Time to change our driving habits and use less gas, to feed them less bucks.

Lucky them! It would be nice if they could pass some of this extra profit on in the form of lower gas prices.

Marathon is strong in KY, but versus Exxon and Conoco Phillips they are ranked about 8th or 9th in revenues.
