I wonder if their survey made a distinction between texting while driving and texting while waiting at a traffic light.

I must admit, I have seen more adults texting than teens while driving. There are a lot of teens that don't drive.

The crazy thing is that crashes *increased* where texting was banned. The drivers just held their phones lower when they texted.

I am a white hair adult. I text rarely while driving. mainly to read. It is unsafe, & I don't compose any text while operating the car.
We need to set better examples.

It doesn't matter what age they are -- it's a dumb thing to do. The worst of it is distracted drivers don't just put themselves at risk -- they endanger everyone around them.

Tuesday I did an informal survey while driving about 200 miles on the Interstate. Many more people texting than talking on the cell phone...a surprise...ugh. About equal between men and women but most men were in commerical type vehicles including two big rigs - ones I could see. Almost exactly the same between "college age" and over college age people. I followed one texter for about 25 miles who never put the phone down and was "all over the road." The good news was that there were fewer people texting or talking on the cell than in the past when I have done this.

.
This is completely made up! Anybody with half a brain knows that all kids today do is Text and use Social Media every waking hour of the day.

More importantly, a single line of code would make it safe for everybody if the Government really wanted it to be safe and not legal to text. Every phone and text device "Knows" when it is moving and a single line of operating code would make it impossible to Text while driving! They could decide if they wanted the device to still receive messages while moving but again it is a piece of cake to disable a device from texting while it is moving.

Talking on a cell phone is distracting enough. I can't imagine texting while driving. Really unsafe.

Anybody who texts while driving is an idiot. And could be dead, not to mention innocent drivers or pedestrians who are in the way.

Today I am praying for the fast recovery of the Louisville basketball player who broke his leg.

texting usually does not make good sense, if you have the phone in your hand, make a call
