If you're a car enthusiast like me, you may want to put your wallet away—that is, if you want your finances to survive intact. The New York Auto Show, opening to the public beginning today at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan, is showing no signs of slowing down, especially as the overall economy picks up here in the U.S.
This year, two major themes dominate the latest vehicles: infotainment and fuel economy. How can a Honda Fit EV make this list when you're only permitted to lease it? That ought to DQ it off the bat. The manufacturer is so worried about the model that no one is allowed to actually buy one.

Car shows aren't what they used to be. Hardly any out-of-this-world concept cars anymore.

I am sure increased MPG could have been done long ago. I agree small vehicles do not work for many of us, like me with a medical condition and need extra equipment along.

While @ericbcire says that small cars aren't practical for most families, too many people are driving around in too much car for their needs. Don't waste gas for 51 weeks out of the year, driving a huge SUV that you'll only need all of it on your one week of vacation.

Any such list as "15 coolest cars" has to be totally subjective.
