Britian’s Autocar recently posted a first-drive review of what it understatedly calls ”the largest and most extreme road legal SUV to ever hail from Mercedes,” namely the coming limited production G63 AMG 6X6. As if the military-derived – yet plush and posh – Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon isn’t enough of an acquired taste, the 6X6 adds an extra rear axle and grafts a pickup bed behind the cabin to create what appears to be the illicit six-wheeled love child of a Hummer H1 and a Chevrolet Avalanche. If anything it’s the modern interpretation of the outrageous Lamborghini LM002 from the early 1990’s that shared its voluminous V12 engine with the automaker’s Countach sports car. Britian’s Autocar recently posted a first-drive review of what it understatedly calls ”the largest and most extreme road legal SUV to ever hail from Mercedes,” namely the coming limited production G63 AMG 6X6. As if the military-derived – yet plush and posh – Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon isn’t enough of an acquired taste, the 6X6 adds an extra rear axle and grafts a pickup bed behind the cabin to create what appears to be the illicit six-wheeled love child of a Hummer H1 and a Chevrolet Avalanche. If anything it’s the modern interpretation of the outrageous Lamborghini LM002 from the early 1990’s that shared its voluminous V12 engine with the automaker’s Countach sports car.
