Gasoline price is high but the states are not getting enough tax due to the decline in sales (better MPG hybrid and electric). Look for that to change.

Those figures assume an average income of $75,000 per year. (75,000 x 4%)
In 2012, I spent $1,311.76 on fuel while being unemployed. (tracked by Quicken) That's a hell of a lot more than a 4 percent cost.

Lets see.... liberals are about doing it for the kids AND conservatives about the family... those knuckleheads better find a way to lower the gas prices for the groups they claim to stand up for.

I track my fuel purchases on GB and the number has been right around 3K the last 2 years. Sad part is I work from home and the commuter car gets 32 mpg.

a regressive reality....the aggregate of 4% of income is misleading when considering the various income strata.

At the rate prices are increasing, it will likely be $3.5-4K by the end of 2013.

The roughly $72,000 household income does seem high. I thought the median was more like $50,000. That would make the 2012 percentage more like 5.8%.
