Too many employers want to squeeze every last minute out of their employees before letting them go in a storm. This is the result. BTDT myself, but no more.

Where were those dolts going anyway in a blizzard? Reminds me of those "victims" od Superstorm Sandy who insisted on staying put in their seaside shacks when authorities had already warned them no to do so, forcing others to risk their lives to save their ass!

Similar to the great snowstorm of 1967 in Chicago when people abandoned their cars on the Kennedy Expressway.

Nothing like stupid New Yorkers. They were warned , they ignored. Now pay the price for your arrogance.

Let's see, they've been forecasting a monster snowstorm for days now. Would this be a good time to get in the car and drive down the expressway? Sure! Sounds like a good plan to me!
These must be the same people who vote for the politicians based on watching their TV ads.

Now when will the political ranters and ravers here demand the elimination of our U.S. Dept. of Commerce's National Weather Service, one more "useless and unnecessary" federal agency?
This was certainly only minor highway stranding in comparison to the Blizzard of '78 which is now fondly remembered by all that had the pleasure of that 'experience'.
Mass. roads were closed at 4:00 pm Friday and NH residents had enough 'Yankee' common sense to get off the roads in time to avoid disaster.

Too bad these people didn't have any access to weather reports. I hope they had the sense to keep a blanket or two in their car.

The local area only got 6.2" and the storm was over for the most part by 9am. Shovelled out the truck, put down some ice melt and the sun - yes, sun and few clouds - took care of the rest. Weather forecasts for the upcoming week have Syracuse over freezing and NYC even warmer so after recovering your breath from all the snowfall, we have to watch out for flooding from all the melting snow. Well, we'll appreciate the water since last year's rainfall totals was low.
As for the people stuck on the LIE, I can feel for them. They all miscalculated and had to spend the night in a cold car - or if they wanted a warm one, they better have filled the full tank beforehand.

Apparently, bwatchingu, you didn't get the memo. This week, it's being called "climate change"--so the "greenies" are covered.

People often underestimate the power of winter storms, either because they don't pay attention to the weather forecasts or because they don't realize the danger.
