Want to save the planet? Stop going to work.

That's the conclusion of a report from Washington think-tank the Center for Economic and Policy Research this week. The report makes the claim that even a 0.5% annual reduction in the length of the average workweek could be enough to cut 8 to 22% of every degree of global warming that's expected between now and 2100.

The CEPR makes a baseline assumption that the average temperature on earth is set to increase by somewhere between 0.75 and 2.34 Celsius over the next century, a process that they attribute at least in part to human activity.

The group says 40 to 60% of global warming's potential impact is effectively locked-in already, so put another way, as half the rest of the impact could be cut simply by reducing work hours

Think how much we would cut emissions by putting a sock in Rush's mouth.

That is not quite what they said. They said that, if we stop burning our natural resources, it would slow the climate changes.

P.S. Would you agree to be my buddy? You make me think and yet laugh at times.

Maybe the think tank should take their own advice.

Could there be a tipping point where there is a sufficient reduction in work hours such that global cooling occurs? Another government funded study in the works!

Sure, just look at the great environmental conditions in third world counties where most of the population does not have work most of the time.

The Center for Economic and Policy Research thinks that working less should slow climate change. There are fewer workers today than there were when Obama took office. That is supposed to be a good thing according to this think tank. Except there is no such thing as climate change.

How helpful this report is. Hey, geniuses, you know genocide, population control and famine would deliver the same results? Thanks for your excellent research.

Hey, Center for Economic and Policy Research.
Send me a cheque for $50,000.00 each year, and I'll gladly quit 100% of my work right now.

I suppose the 24 million under and unemployed are doing their part.

Who are the idiots came up with this crap anyway? Of course, a left-wing liberal bunch of fools.

If the take home pay remained the same, it would be a no brainer. I'm quite certain that wouldn't be the case though...

Global warming is a cyclical thing base on solar flares from the sun.

Explain the heat cycle that allowed the vikings to leave Norway and make settlements in Greenland, Iceland, and what is now Canada. And the had to abandon them when the "mini" ice age came.

The study seems to overlook the relationship between the total production and total pay. Rising costs is not the same as an increase in production.
