Leaning against the walls and sitting in aisles, more than 80 students crammed into a classroom on the second floor of Linsly-Chittenden last Saturday afternoon. A handful wore seemingly normal white “Y” T-shirts, but with a noticeable change: The bottom half of the shirts had been dipped in black dye, intended to make them look ominous, like they were caught in a rising tide of oil.

Saturday marked the kickoff meeting of a campaign to get the University to phase out its endowment investments in the fossil fuel industry for ethical and environmental reasons.

There's nothing wrong with a little CO2, @TheGoatWhisperer. However, we are nowhere near "a little CO2" at this point.

Basically, we've released enough CO2 into the atmosphere that it would be like lighting all of the Earth's trees on fire and letting it burn for a century. What do you think THAT would do to the atmosphere?

The "tapped out wells" were never tapped out, @ican2step. It just cost too much money to get the last drops of oil out of the ground. Now, fracking is letting Big Oil squeeze the ground for every last drop.

Too bad the ground is too contaminated to use after Big Oil is done with it.

Wow! If it's a fossil fuel, why are the tapped out wells filling back up?

The young ones will be running this country in 5 - 20 years. Will they still feel the same by the time they are our ages?
