A new bill in the North Carolina General Assembly could require moped drivers to carry insurance.

Lawmakers who support the new legislation, want to make sure that moped drivers have the same protections that automobile and motorcycle drivers so.

Noisy, dangerous, low-skilled operators. It's everyone else on the road that need protection from them. Require insurance or ban them.

Those things would be a danger to the operator as well as other vehicles on the road!

Only when you include lanes for those that use that type of two wheeler.
This could also go for the bicyclist.
Remember when horses owned the road.
Bicycles came before the Auto.
Share the road people, we all pay TAXES.

Those things shouldn't even be on the road, same with pedumbstrians, and those idiots on bicycles.

Riding a moped in some cities is an instant death sentence. However, it is a very inexpensive way to commute when possible.

Interesting article and before you know it, they will want to have insurance for bike riders too and throw in pedestrians as they too cause accidents.

Moving objects with motors and use the public roads like privately owned vehicles should be insured as they can get into a collusion with whatever and either hurt themselves, property or others.

Here in SC, driving a moped is part of the price you pay after a DUI. You don't have to register or insure them, just put a plate on the back with big MOPED letters and you are set

Maybe wildlife crossing roads ought to have insurance too?

We have some idiots that drive mopeds that think they can drive in main stream of traffic. In our state, they are supposed to operated like a bicycle, drive on the right hand side of the road. Nothing like driving in a 45 MPH zone and suddenly come up on a 25 MPH moped.

Any cyclist must be insured and carry a proof of insurance, as well as all pedestriams who dare to cross a road fit for motor vehicles.
Otherwise, stay home and mow your lawn

Moped drivers are few and DO NOT deserve the same status as other drivers, in my opinion.

I can see why one might want to make sure all motorized vehicles have insurance. However, I don't know how much they will charge; that could exorbitant.
