I don't care about the price in other countries (unless you compare the cost of fuel minus taxes and subsidies, and even then I don't really care).

Relative to other countries, the US still has low energy prices. Maybe that explains why SUVs are US products and why we're still such energy gluttons.

Would be interesting to see how Canada ranks amongst other countries, but unfortunately Canada is not the the list. :(

Most other countries has to buy gas by the liter. A gallon is about 3 & 1/2
liters. We can never let the oil companies convert at the stations in the US to look like the price is cheaper. If it was selling at $4 a gallon, liter wise would be $14 a gallon!!

When I was a young person living in Germany in 1971, fuel was over $2 a liter. Insurance was outrageous too. I'm happy living and driving in America; thank you.

It's all relative to currency, taxes, who's in charge, where production comes from, etc....not so simple

The real irony is that we don't hesitate to pay $40 for a litre of alcohol (scotch, gin, whiskey, vodka, rum,....) which costs almost nothing to make and is abundantly available but we find $1.30 for a litre of gas exorbitant [which it is] which costs millions to produce.

And the United States should be the cheapest because all we do (lead) for the other countries, with (American) tax payers dollars.

I agree with Fullcirclethink below. The government and nearly everybody else wants us to FEEL GUILTY about paying as little as we do for gasoline. The socialists want to make us just like Europe with 80%+ of our income going towards the government so they can take care of us from cradle to grave. It would be interesting to see the comparison with the type of economy that each nation has. The results would be that those countries that are socialist in nature are going to be the ones with the highest prices. We should compare ourselves with Venezuela; as they are a net oil exporter as we SHOULD be, considering the reserves we have and the amount of oil not yet captured through new technologies such as fracking, etc.

Gas prices are about the same everywhere. The differences can be attributed to government interference in the form of taxes and local fuel blending requirements. There are also countries, like Venezuela, where the government owns or subsidizes the gas industry and causes artificially low fuel prices.

The OPEC countries are conspicuously absent. How much do they pay in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia?
Perhaps if our prices are high enough, we will start moving towards better mass transit. I know it's not practical for much of the country, but our high density urban centers should have much more of it.

Comparing miniature countries to driving in the U.S. is ridiculous.
THEY don't have the natural resources. WE do!
