PLEASANTON, Calif., Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Safeway Inc. (SWY) and ExxonMobil (XOM) have teamed up to provide Safeway shoppers a new way to save at the pump. Safeway shoppers and ExxonMobil customers can now earn Reward Points for most products purchased at Safeway stores in the Mid-Atlantic region and redeem their Reward Points at participating Exxon or Mobil locations. This new loyalty program will help maximize the value and savings provided to Safeway and ExxonMobil customers through the combination of convenience and rewards.

Exxon stations need a discount to just be even with other stations around here.

It’s too bad that the program is in the Mid-Atlantic as there are no Exxon gas stations here in Northern California. I would love to see Safeway work with one of the gas companies here on such a program. Examples of gas companies here in Northern California: Valero, 76, Chevron, Beacon, and Shell.

I sure do miss the 3 cent discount that Safeway use to offer.

Every gas station gets gas from the most convenient refinery. It has nothing to do with the brand.

From a rewards program, card carrying guy (Delta, American, USAir, Hertz, Marriott and Hilton), I say....interesting.
