Seven of the Ten worse cities for air pollution...not to mention 8 of the 10 worst lakes for water pollution.
they wanted jobs and economic growth and encouraged manufacturing by eliminating environmental regulations. this is the result.
Fracking fans take note!

Could this be one reason why there is so much air pollution in China?

That is partly why the pollution is so bad in Chinese cities. It is a question how long the population will put up with it.

After seeing a story on the severe pollution in Beijing on the news last night, it's evident that China's heavy coal usage and lack of pollution controls is killing it's people, not to mention contributing significantly to global warming. Sooner or later, it's going to hurt them economically too because people will not want to do business there. Maybe then they'll get the message that something has to be done, and soon.

. But the EPA has to shutdown cheap electricity in this country that already has emissions lowering devices on our power plants!
By the way, CO2 is NOT and NEVER will be a greenhouse gas!

If they would use the pollution control that is being forced in the US, it would cut down on the pollution the rest of us have to put up with.

This is why China does not have cap & trade, or why it does not belong to any pollution agreement.
