Teafortwo...I think I accidentally duped this article. Mea Cupla! GB gave me NO indication I had done so.

When has the drilling industry ever been a 'good neighbor'? When they move in and take over use of your property by eminent domain, take your kids and either fight them off with your automatic weapon or run like hell! Get as far away as possible from their toxic mix of bad air, contaminated water, and poisonous wastewater that is never cleaned up.

Imagine that... pumping highly toxic chemicals into areas near drinking water sources will cause many health problems with those who live in these areas. Who could have seen that coming?

Water is essential to life.
bar1035?
Your industry coaxed "bait & switch" attempt? All too transparent.
Football? Playing football? OPTIONAL sport.
Water? Need to drink water to sustain life? ESSENTIAL. There are NO substitutes for water.
Water?
Hold the heavy metals Hold the industrial waste Hold the radioactive backflow Hold the toxic fracking chemicals, especially the "trade secret" fracking chemicals. Make mine neat. Straight up. Hold the ice. Pure clean water, thank you.
Basic physiology. Water is essential to life.

I think it is not at all clear how safe fracking is. But it is not surprising that the oil companies attribute it to "hysteria". That's a nice way of just avoiding the question. But it seems that there are a lot of reports about health issues, water issues, etc. all over the country. Where there is smoke, there is probably fire.

It's hard to know who's right and who has a valid claim for/against fracking.

Interesting GB poll this week. Seems that most GB members are not sure if fracking is safe.
I agree, more research is necessary.

Hydraulic fracturing makes billions of gallons of our drinking water undrinkable each day by the additon of toxic cancer causing chemicals. I have read that it's virtually impossible to make that water drinkable again.

But Error, wounded, writhes in pain,
And dies among his worshippers.

They should not have the right to inject toxic materials into the ground, risking contamination of groundwater. Water, sand, and perhaps a spot of detergent ought to do the job. We cannot afford to risk our fresh water supply. Oil is nice but water is essential.

Who says that a "study" is needed for people to know when their own health is affected???
We know for a fact that breathing in natural gas does cause headaches.
Much (if not all) of this fracking is taking place without due consideration of people's health or groundwater contamination.
There is a price tag on capitalism. Perhaps those who stand to profit don't care. But they should. What's the old adage? "Love your neighbor as you love yourself."
What impact will all of this have on gas prices?

I'm sure there was once NO link between illness and all kinds of things being dumped in the rivers like sewage, factory chemicals, etc.
If only Faux News would have existed back then...

ROFL!
<<<" Despite a lack of studies supporting their claims, some people living near oil and natural gas wells in Northern Colorado say the practice of hydraulic fracturing has caused them health problems.">>>
************
As illness is an inherent part of being human, you could make any argument you want about anything...
"Despite a lack of studies supporting their claims, some people that have coffee tables in Kalamazoo Michigan say the practice of owning a coffee table has caused health problems."
If you take any sample of any population, some will be sick, some will be nearsighted, some will be pregnant, some will be bald, etc., etc., etc. I find these "sky is falling" articles to be amusing, they all share the same characteristics, categorical assumption of traits, planting programmed thoughts for uneducated readers to develop the same bias the publication has already assumed WITHOUT any proper substantiation or due diligence of any of their alleged facts. I remember when news organizations strived for excellence in simply reporting the news as it was, and left editorial comment for editorials.
