A bipartisan group of US senators urged US President Barack Obama to quickly approve the proposed Keystone XL pipeline project now that Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman (R) has approved its new route across the state (OGJ Online, Jan. 22, 2013
).
Their letter to the president attracted 53 signatures, representing a majority of the Senate, in less than a day after Heineman announced his decision, Energy and Natural Resources Committee Ranking Minority Member Lisa Murkowski (R-Alas.), Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), and others who signed the letter told reporters.

I would say that John Kerry's investment in the company involved with the piperline will pay off rather well.

He's not interested. I'm kind of suprised he doesn't nationalize the pipeline, then take all of the monies and give it to those who are less fortunate!

I'm surprised that anyone in Congress, either in the House OR the Senate know what the word "prompt" means. I thought the standard answer was to do a continuing resolution and kick the can down the road six months or more.

I agree, it's all politics, everything is politics, they just want to be elected, citizens will be foolish to think they are there to look for our interests.

The only purpose for this pipeline is to make it more cost effective to EXPORT oil from North America, therefor allowing the oil companies to sell to the highest bidder. If it goes thru, gas prices will go UP in the US, especially in the Midwest.

Without the pipeline, export costs are prohibitive, so it gets sold locally, helping to keep prices down.

Sounds like the affect of super PAC money, not engineering or science. Just one more way to export North American resources at public expense.
