FLORENCE — The northern New Jersey company that wanted to build a solar farm near residences has withdrawn its application from the township, marking a victory for a group of homeowners who opposed the plan.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment voted Tuesday to dismiss the application by RenewTricity of Ridgefield Park, Bergen County. Zoning Board attorney David Frank said the applicant cited “regulatory and financing developments” as reasons for requesting a dismissal.

The application first was considered in May and continued in July, August and September due to the lengthy testimonies provided by experts representing RenewTricity and Burlington Township, and heated public comment by residents in both towns.

I applaud the fact that this is creating a regulation to govern installation and operation of a solar power system in this township, but I also question the reaction of the town folk on "not in my backyard".

After reading the article a couple of things I noticed missing are: The cost per kilowatt hour from the solar farm and was there and if so how much government money involved that we as tax payers either have or would have lost?

Solar farms encountering difficulty in the permitting process? I am a little surprised, but not totally shocked. I would have bet on "renewable energy" as being given more latitude, if not carte blanche.
