DrPepper - I realize you and many others have no faith with the EPA, for many reasons, one being sound science as you claim and/or with individuals within the EPA, that are no longer there due to dubious activities. I don't believe in flawed science either, as many scientists are under the auspices of not just the EPA; they maybe with other organizations (univ govt, etc). I don't hold sway, to the attitude of besmirching an entire organization for the nefarious activities of a individual or a small group within their larger organization, we all know that their are bad apples within any large organization. Keep in mind, that all gov't agencies have a mandate to protect the American people and keep in mind that their is interoperability between these agencies. So, if and when there is another, report from the USGS or any other bona fide agency, and if it does not support your stance, hopefully you will remember your accolades for the USGS and accept their future findings; for I fear there will be more reports/findings that are not in support of your stance for fracking and the release of gases into groundwater's and/or atmosphere resulting in greenhouse gases!

"Sadly comical! Up until now, many fracking supporters have shot the gov't messenger (EPA particularly) when their findings don't support their stance; now they have a report stating non-contamination of Fayettville ground water and now they embrace the USGS report." ============================================= Cdnlynx, I can't speak for others, never have, but one must learn to recognize the differences of different governmental agencies. The EPA has been clearly shown to have a POLITICAL bias to their agenda. Frankly, the USGS has proven to use truly scientific basis in their studies.
A perfect example was their pointing out the numerous flaws in the EPA "reports" of studies in WY, related to hydraulic fracturing.
It not a matter of "fracking supporters", it is a matter of sound science.

Cakes, on the evening troll last night, says "Malarkey"!
Borrowing from Biden's dictionary, LOL, does not qualify as refute to the facts Cakes.
I don't know completely why, I do have a pretty good idea though, Cakes would not accept Cdnlynx' postings of the USGS studies straight from the USGS.
Remember Cakes facing up to the facts will help you recognize the truth.
And thereby, the truth shall set you free!

Like I stated earlier, it is great news, that they have found no water contamination at Fayettville Arkansas; I suspect, it may be a little optimistic that this type of positive findings will continue, in subsequent investigations of fracking, (particularly the horizontal); and the subsequent release of hydrocarbon gases (natural gas) into either underground water and/or upper atmosphere and green house gases!
In future it would be nice if people could reference the actual source (in this case USGS vice breitbart).
Sadly comical! Up until now, many fracking supporters have shot the gov't messenger (EPA particularly) when their findings don't support their stance; now they have a report stating non-contamination of Fayettville ground water and now they embrace the USGS report. U.S. Govt agencies have always been interested into protecting their people, either you support them or you don't; hopefully the wishy/washy (vacillating) attitude, will cease!

LOL, actually it does Cakes! The geology and formations are quite similar. You also must look at another USGS study, the one Cuomo hid from the public like the good little liberal he is, that shows how many water wells in NY have methane present without any hydro-fracturing ever done in NY.
You see Cakes, the truth shall set you free!

Besides being a questionable news source YaBassa, how many miles and different geological strata are there between Arkansas and Pennsylvania? This study means nothing to y'all back East.

YaBassa, are you really in such denial that you do not believe the USGS findings?
CdnLynx provided two direct links to the USGS reports below. You really need to put a check on your ideology! LOL!

Yes, water does seek it's own level, due to gravity. It's not very common to see water fall upwards.

perhaps not yet.
water always seeks it's own level....
if that crap is there...
it will perculate in all directions and eventually reach positions of other water accumulations.....
anybody have a basement? If water finds a way in.. and you stop it.. it will eventually find another way in...
and you won't have enough fingers to dike the dam...

You will not find this on the mainstream media - because it goes against the liberal left's agenda.

Good, I'm glad! It's great that there was no groundwater contamination at the Fayetteville shale zone.
I just wish people would actually go the the horses mouth as opposed to a third party site!
USGS - News room - No Contamination from Fayetteville Shale Exploration Found in Sampled Wells
Shallow Groundwater Quality and Geochemistry in the Fayetteville Shale Gas-Production Area, North-Central Arkansas, 2011
The above (2nd) article is the actual report! I am glad it worked out this time; there are many other sites and investigations, hopefully they will be positive also! We need clean energy; we need clean water even more!

Of course you will get no response from them Sammy. At least none other than fear and paranoia. The USGS is showing time and time again that water contamination is not a reality from hydraulic fracturing. Those opposed will simply ignore these reports or hide them in secrecy as Cuomo did in NY.

From the article: "They found no increase in chloride or trace metals at wells within the study area. In fact, the water sampled from wells was clearer than historical samples to which they were compared."
===============================================================
I am waiting to see the response from the "greenies" knowing that this is not congruent with their prognostications.

cheapchickKY, fracking is the ONLY reason that we aren't already deep into a depression. With all of the coal plants being shut down and nuclear power declared politically incorrect, how do you propose to keep us out of the dark ages while solar energy is being developed?

"there are news showing contamination" Sometimes the "news" outlets infer things that are not in the story. That's the problem with getting your news from only one source, such as the mainstream media. Broaden your mind and listen to different sides of the story. This is difficult because while we have a 2-party political system, we basically have a one-party press. Fact: Fracking does NOT make your water flammable.
And the headlines can say whatever the biased editors want, but the evidence does not show any contamination of drinking wells that was caused by fracking - not yet, anyway.

The Jury is still out..but 'why the fear' of getting evidence that doesn't jive with your 'fear-mongering'! Real Freedom is walking in a lack of fear..and something worth fighting for! Like the Patriots who fought for the True meaning of the state motto.."Live Free"! Living Free doesn't mean one walks around with blinders on..oblivious to 'evidence that can be corroborated'! I guess that why I so enjoyed being a judge at Science Fairs..to test the Scientific Method! Truth is corroborated and evidence is replicated!
I served during Vietnam in the Chemical Corps..and saw that to 'survive, you learned very quickly that you must depend on your protective mask and protective equipment! A true scientist never stops looking for 'evidence, and is never afraid of what he will uncover, even if it doesn't always jive with his preconceived prejudices!
Thanks for the article, "ComProf"..one can only vote for an article ONCE! Posting newslinks are NOT Popularity Contests, either! Sorry to be so blunt! Denigrating a 'news source as Faux' is like sticking your head in the sands of time! I was a Ranger/Interpretive Naturalist, not just in Glacier N.P...but continue to do so as a volunteer in local parks/arboretums! Love working with kids and adult students with 'open minds'! So 'refreshing' to see..it's hard not to 'dump the whole load on those who are searching'! Yep, 'Preaching to the choir, again!' Still looking in the mirror, too! ;)

Very interesting article.
comprof, Thank You for posting this.
From the article, "...the US Geological Survey found no groundwater contamination as a result of fracking in an area of Arkansas. This comes just a week after a leaked report showed that NY had determined the process was safe for drinking water."
Also, "When the EPA did a similar investigation of groundwater in Dimock, PA -- a site featured in the anti-fracking film "Gasland" -- it found the water was safe to drink."
It is sad that fracking continues to be found to be safe and yet there are those who continue to refuse to accept the results. Agendas, anyone???
NHLiveFree, given that there were only 13 votes for this article, one of which was mine, it is hard to believe that comprof is "voting up (his) own submission."

"In an area of Arkansas" is much different than the the 'clipped' headine that infers all of Arkansas. breitbart.com must be copying Faux News.
