People predicting a manufacturing renaissance in the United States usually imagine whirring robots or advanced factories turning out wind turbines and solar panels. The real American edge might be in something entirely more mundane: cheap starting materials for plastic bottles and plastic bags.

The plummeting price of natural gas, which can be used to make a vast number of products, including tires, carpet, antifreeze, lubricants, cloth, and many types of plastic, is luring key industries to the United States. Just five years ago, natural gas prices were so high that some chemicals manufacturers were shutting down operations here. Now the ability to access natural gas trapped in shale rock formations, using technologies such as hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling, has led to a s

Well said NH!

The most salient point is your comment, "I just hope they all follow good manufacturing practices and strict quality control procedures to avoid any and all potential hazards and pollution.

Sorry, I don't accept thanks from paid industry shills here teenie.

This real news story is at least a factual statement of industry developments and the possible USA manufacturing that could be re-enabled.

I just hope they all follow good manufacturing practices and strict quality control procedures to avoid any and all potential hazards and pollution.

we can't have more jobs, that would encourage people to get off the government roll and be able to fend for themselves. The liberal government can't have that. People don't know how to take care of themselves, the government needs to do that.

We really should be using the natural gas in our cars. The two biggest obstacles are obama and the auto companies gouging us.

Not if they can export it all as nat. gas at a higher price to the world. Anyway even the past year & still there are US shortages of Gasses such as Helium etc. became very expensive.

US Natural GAS increase will be GREAT for the USA IF the GOVERNMENT doesn't allow International Companies to export it all, free of charge. There SHOULD BE A BAN ON EXPORTING NAT GAS as long as we are IMPORTING OIL, expressly from the TERRORIST in the MIDDLE EAST!!

All US NAT GAS EXPORTED NEEDS to have a EXPORT FEE on all EXPORTED NAT GAS that is put DIRECTLY AGAINST THE US NATIONAL DEBT!!
