Actually nsdp knows full well that eminent domain does not "steal a land owner's property". Far from it. ED law is a protection against theft of land.

When Enbridge replaced their heavy Canadian crude oil pipeline a mile away from my house, they replaced my neighbor's lawn, repaved our township's roads and allowed the farmers to harvest the corn growing atop the pipeline. Here in Michigan, the easement allows the use of soil atop the pipeline. And the cows get to eat the grass as the pipeline is placed four feet under. We get paid and still use the ground.

Could this be part of the reason there are higher oil inventories?

VomVom in the US eminent domain results in a one time payment to the owner and the owner is denied effective future use of the land. Try to get paid if they come in and destroy your crop when doing repair work. I would suggest you stick to Canadian law since you know absolutely nothing about eminent domain south of the 49th parallel. It is just like a road. You may still own the ditch (and pay property taxes on it) but try and use it.
What ever you are smoking I'll have some too.

There are still a lot of ignorant irresponsible misinformation posted here.
1. The US is not exporting crude oil to China. Since 1975, it is illegal to export crude oil from the US. All exports must require Fed Govt approval. Presently, the US exports about 40,000 BPD to Canada due to lack of pipeline capacity.
2. Eminent domain does not "steal" land from the landowner as some idiots have suggested. It allows the pipeline company to lease an easement or pipeline right of way to bury a pipe in the landowner's property. The landowner receives an annual lease payment based on fair market value.

Fewer tankers of heavy Venezuelan crude are off loading to the Texas refineries. Therefore, more heavy Canadian crude is needed to replace the disappearing heavy Venezuelan crude.
The highest ranking U.S. official that tried to worry us about oil tankers to China is the Socialist U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Is he Hugo Chavez's man in the Senate?

This should keep the tankers supplying China busy.

Certainly doesn't do the the environmental damage or steal a land owner's property the way Keystone XL does.
Since we are already shipping Eagle Ford production to the East Coast and Quebec I am not sure what there is left for Keystone.

Greater transportation efficiency makes for greater market efficiency (raising the price of western crude).
