HOUSTON — A Texas judge has ordered TransCanada to temporarily halt work on a private property where it is building part of an oil pipeline designed to carry tar sands oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast, the latest legal battle to plague a project that has encountered numerous obstacles nationwide.

Texas landowner Michael Bishop, who is defending himself in his legal battle against the oil giant, filed his lawsuit in the Nacogdoches County courthouse, arguing that TransCanada lied to Texans when it said it would be using the Keystone XL pipeline to transport crude oil.

Good for the judge - the citizens should not be hung out to dry after the 'bait and switch' by the big oil companies - the citizens should not have to fight this on their own - where is the outrage from the legislators - or have their palms been greased too much!

Gotta love folks that tilt at windmills, so to speak. The extra cost will get spread over huge volumes in the long run, good luck.

Seems like this company has tried to bully its way over private citizens. Glad to see someone is taking them on.

Can this pipeline saga become a storyline on the new "Dallas" TV series on TNT? What would "J.R. Ewing" do? Rest in peace Larry Hagman.
