Another version of this story concludes, "Although it is unclear how many automobiles were affected by the mix-up, none of them were suddenly capable of breaking the sound barrier, so there goes that dream."

Jet fuel is kerosene, would not do your motor good.

That was an expensive mistake, because jet fuel is far more expensive than gas.

Mistakes are always possible. Some of them do come out too be very costly. There was one large cost in this case.

Jet fuel doesn't work very well in a gasoline engine.

The jet fuel must have been put into the gasoline storage tanks (article indicated cars that stalled). If it had been put into the diesel storage tanks, nobody would have noticed (jet fuel is a kerosene-type distillate).

Someone should have been suspicious when they had to go thru security and patted down. If the gas station touched my junk, I would have definitely known it was the wrong fuel.

Not good jet fuel is basically kerosene
Probably no long term damage but engine cleanup could be costly

I'm no expert, but isn't there a big difference between these 2 fuels
that should have been noticed by somebody: even the person fueling
the car?????

Well that's the bad news...but the good news from this story is that those cras which recieved the jet fuel are now booking flights to a variety of destinations at really inexpensive prices...leg room is still about the same though.

Jet fuel has a distinct odor...would think that would have noticed when they started pumping in their gas tank.
