Many companies require in their P&P's alcohol treatment for workers found drinking on the job, prior to dismissal. Dismissal only if they fail their treatment.

If they were found guilty drinking on the job, they should be terminated. This is what happens when unions run amock! This country is going down the toilet and we've got no one to blame except ourselves.

This is why unions get a bad reputation, brought by their own actions.

There must be some type of appeals process. What kind of proof is needed? They have those drunk & stoned employees on video!

Their own co-workers ratted them out to the media/reporter that broke the story. Co-workers didn't approve them working at the company.

And here in Lansing we have thousands of UAW members opposing the Right To Work law that the governor is signing. They must be afraid that they will lose their safety net.

If it is in the rules that there is no drinking or drugs allowed, then they should be fired and not recourse allowed from the unions.
Unions have to much power and abuse it. Will not buy any car from that factory and not sure if I would buy from Chrysler because of this.

Very surprised the workers were reinstated considering the rules & policies. Does this mean that they'll reinstated ALL workers that were fired for the same reason?

Who cares. I heard these losers were all janitors anyway and the only thing they drive is a broom. Besides, take a closer look at lunch time in nice restaurants and see who knocking back a few cocktails and then Driving back to the office. Why don't Fox stalk and spy on them as well...hypocrites.

The abuse of the Unions continues to this day. As michigan is becoming a right to work State, they had to close 2 school districts so that the teachers could go to lansing and protest. What a sad state of affairs. And those Chrysler workers are screw ups...they will be in trouble again.

in my mind... drinking on the job where equipment use is mandatory, should be sufficient reason for dismissal!!!! the arbitrator was probably ässisted"in his decision for sure!!! this is unacceptable.

This is outrageous. I saw the story on the news as well as the film footage of the men smoking and drinking from the bottles.
Chrysler needs to perform frequent drug testing in order to have legal ammunition for future incidences.

The union needs to go. The terminated workers need to remain gone. Chrysler made the right decision in the first place.

The workers should have stayed fired and the United Auto Workers Union and arbitration ruling was wrong. So now if a worker is injured after drinking on their lunch break gets hurt Chrysler must pay for their hospital care, rehab, and time off for sick leave.

I can understand why the arbitrator gave the jobs back. There was no physical evidence to support the claim made by the TV station. I can understand that Chrysler did what they thought was best for their image when these bums were fired. The fact that they got their jobs back and that there was no physical evidence does not mean that they are innocent. It means that they played the system and won. I hope that they did not get back pay for the time that they were fired. I support Chrysler for their action even if they had to eat it.

Lets see how many beers while having a sandwich you could drink in your half hour lunch if you leave and have to return to your job site? This was way, way over blown. Why didn't Fox track executives that take a least an hour for lunch and have their 3 martini lunch. Fox doesn't want to touch that one. Hypocrits.
