Obama is smiling ear to ear while forcing the House to either accept a lousy tax deal or his preferred choice - go off the fiscal cliff so that everyone pays higher taxes! Obama gets our money for Christmas and beyond. We will get a large piece of coal and the shaft. This is what 51% of you voted for.

There are many other applications of this research. But as is pointed out in the comments - is this the best use of our tax dollars? Are there other research topics offering greater good? Also, I may be ignorant of the different facilities around the country to do this type of research but I find it interesting that the Argonne National Lab was selected for this project. It is run by the University of Chicago for the DOE, so I'm sure BHO, Dick Durbin, and Rahm Emanuel are happy with the decision to send more federal money to Chicago.
