Of course they look at the US and Mexico. Labor costs are much cheaper than in Japan.

non-union, which is cheaper than the big 3, and cheaper than they have it back in Japan. Why not?

MaiTai's... what are you rambling about... facts are the Japanese don't have to hire UNION workers... which have made American Autos priced higher than they should be. Time to get rid of the unions and get Americans back to work and American Auto companies more than, just getting by!

The unused auto manufacturing capacity will be transitioned to the manufacture of walkers and adult diapers -the demand for which is expected to increase exponentially in the next few years. This is the reward for Japanese cultural Xenophobia and consequent nil emigration rate. OTOH, the domestic manufacture of hand-painted little umbrellas for Mai-Tais will likely get a little bump by the increase in the number of retirees in the nursing homes ...

As a Michigan resident we need jobs badly. Our State Government has been asleep at the wheel and if they do not get their act together they will find themselves out of office.

The Japs seem stupid.
They should look at China and India to build their cars. With over 2,500 million people in China and India, why bother with the US with only slightly over 310 million?

And if we have cheap energy then more companies will take a hard look at building their next plant here. To bad our President wants our energy prices to "Skyrocket!"

Wow, that is a huge shift if it happens as they say.
Southwest Ohio and Western Ohio do a lot of business with Japan based companies. Ford and GM once were dominant but not now.
Japanese machine tool builders have replaced American as the latter have been driven out of business in all but high-end highly engineered products.
